Sweetwater Creek
Grounded. I need to feel grounded.
Lately, I’ve been getting back into taking at least one day out the week to cater to myself. Since the sun has been out, I’ve been bouncing between Old Fourth Ward Skatepark, Piedmont Park, and Sweetwater Creek. I take that time to reset my body mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I take time for those deep breaths my lungs urge for. I take the stress off my mental to relax. I take in my inner feelings and allow them free themselves of any stress. I take in my surroundings. I take time for me.
Sweetwater Sundays - 5:57 pm
It’s 5:57 pm and Mr. Sun is still out, as he typically he during the summer season, which is never a problem for me! Mr. Sun is the best friend you always want around, especially for a good pic!
I love how he sends the warmth throughout my body, from head to toe. It’s as if he’s baking me in his own personal oven. I come out glazed and regenerated every time. After I finish with Mr. Sun, I take in my surroundings.
Sight. Aww, look at the beautiful couple bonding, as he twirls through her hair with love. Oww, that couple has a dog. I love dogs! Why are you here alone, sir? Do you just need time alone or are you always alone with time? Come throughhhh ponytailed, sista locs with the rounded glasses!
Taste. Liquor separating itself from the juice I induced it with. Yuck, yet fun.
Hear. Water crashing against rocks is more peaceful than it sounds. Turn my head left, a soft, flow of water satisfying my ears. Turn my head to the right, and here comes the water crashing against the rocks again. The cool flow turns into a crash that sends your mind to the mellows. Wait, who keeps giggling? Oh, it’s the siblings behind me chasing each other. Conversational pieces rush through my ears as it tries to overpower the music in the back. This is my songggg, turn it up for me!
Smell. Marijuana, of course, as it swiftly swipes the nose. Grass, I smell grass. I smell water. I smell pizza, or maybe the liquor is kicking in. Considering I am in their home, it makes sense for their smells to outweigh mine.
Feel. Warmth from Mr. Sun’s oven. Mellow from the roaring water waves. Anxious, not really sure why. I thought I was relaxed…
Sight. The clear sky gave Mr. Sun more room to roam free, before he settles in for the night. Helping hands assists those in need of help crossing the rocks. Feet slipping in water, feet come to a standstill as the water welcomes comfort. New people walking across the rocks. Where did the couple with the dog go? Ow look, it’s a duck. Let’s feed him with hope because we’ve already devoured our food. The greenery is beautiful. The trees stand strong as it provides us with 360 security. I guess I’ll just stare at the running water until my eyes run weary.
Wrap up. Time to leave before Mr. Sun calls it a night. I enjoyed myself. I enjoyed taking in my surrounds. I enjoyed taking time for me!
